Flu Vaccinations—Available from March each year
Flu vaccinations are available free to people over the age or 65, pregnant women and people of all ages, including children, with chronic medical conditions such as asthma, diabetes or heart disease. If you would like further information about your individual need to have the flu vaccination, please make an appointment to see your GP.
Boostrix Vaccination—Whooping Cough
In a bid to reduce the rate of whooping cough among unimmunised and partially immunised children, it is now recommended that people caring for infants, who have not had a vaccination in the last 10 years, should have a whooping cough (boostrix) vaccination. Cervical Cancer Screening—Pap Smears
Pap smears are recommended every two years for all sexually active women, aged 18—70, regardless of whether you have had your Gardasil (cervical cancer) vaccination or not. If you have an abnormal result, you may need to have your pap smears done more often for a period of time. Our practice nurse, Jay, is qualified to perform pap testing and visits with Jay are bulk billed, if you are a regular patient of the surgery. Acupuncture is a used to heal and treat some medical conditions. Some of these conditions include: migraine headache, premenstrual syndrome (PMS), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), muscular pain (especially neck and shoulders tension), as well as tension headaches. Dr Peijian (Peggy) Zeng is a GP with over 15 years general medical experience as well as a trained acupuncturist, for which she received her training in China. If you think you may benefit from acupuncture treatment, you should discuss this option with your GP first. If your GP thinks that this you do not have any contraindications to acupuncture, then you can make an appointment to discuss your treatment options with Dr Zeng. Dr Zeng is also happy to discuss acupuncture with your GP prior to your visit with her.
In accordance with the National Immunisation Program Schedule, we offer childhood vaccinations at 2, 4, 6, 12 and 18 months and at 4 years of age. Our practice nurse, Jay, performs childhood vaccinations on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. All vaccination consultation fees will be bulk billed for families already attending the clinic, when the vaccinations are administered by the practice nurse.
Chronic Disease Management and General Health Assessments
All of our doctors are able to assist eligible patient with chronic disease management and care plans, when appropriate. Also, we offer general health checks for 4 year olds, 45—49 year olds and people over the age of 75. These health checks are bulk billed to medicare, with no out of pocket expense.
